Master of Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety

Although quality and safety in healthcare are top priorities today, it is only in the last 25 to 30 years that emphasizing patient safety as a mission-driven imperative has become commonplace. Medical and surgical procedures are complex tasks involving multiple medical personnel, sophisticated equipment, and ever-present risks. Ensuring that all measures are taken to avoid harm is an ongoing challenge that requires special skills.

The SIU’s Master of Science in Healthcare Quality and Safety program provides clinicians and clinical managers with the operational skills and leadership vision to lead effective quality improvement and safety efforts within healthcare organizations.

This master prepares the professionals to build a strong organizational culture for medical leadership and reliable systems competency and patient safety. It helps them to build a network of patient safety and quality of care professionals and fosters sharing, engagement, and collaboration.

The SIU’ Master of Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety degree opens the doors to a variety of jobs and leadership roles.

  • Completion of a 3r-year bachelor’s degree at least or its equivalent from a recognized and accredited college or university.
