Smart Island University, AKA “SIU” is a 100% online university that has recently emerged in the world of digital education, offering bachelor’s and master’s degrees. SIU takes pride in its commitment to diversity – coming from the eastern coast of Africa and Indian Ocean, to the whole world, our students span a wide variety of backgrounds.
SIU’s Ongoing learning model, supported by a smart learning approach and advanced technology, provides students at all career levels with the resources and opportunities to pursue academic and professional development. By embracing continuous and self-motivated lifelong education and leveraging technology, SIU aims to empower individuals to thrive in their chosen fields and adapt to the changing demands of the future.
SIU has been accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education in Comoros since 2023 with Commercial Registration No KM-HAH-01-2023-B14-00008, and an operational and academic office based in Cable De Lyon Moroni, Comoros. which mean that the university has undergone a formal evaluation process to ensure that it meets the standards and requirements set by the Ministry of higher education and operates with integrity.
This evaluation process typically includes a review of the university’s curriculum, faculties, and other important factors for providing high-quality online education. Moreover, SIU is a member of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE). AASHE is a non-profit membership organization that empowers higher education staff, faculty, administrators, and students to be effective change agents and drivers of sustainability innovation.
SIU aims to expand its list of accreditations and memberships as part of its future plans. At SIU, we aim to provide programs that prioritize effective and academically capable student learning, along with the necessary resources and support to ensure our students thrive. This objective will be accomplished through our ongoing accreditation strategy, which places equal importance on ensuring quality and continuously improving our programs.
This membership proves the importance that SIU gives to sustainability, similarly to the most important international universities, which allows our university to rise to the level of a “Responsible University“
Our university is also member of STARS (The Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System) which is a program of aashe and which represents transparent, self-reporting framework for colleges and universities to measure their sustainability performance.
Quality Matters (QM) is a quality assurance organization focused on faculty professional development.
QM provides a network of professional instructors to help improve and nurture all aspects of online courses.
The SIU’ courses are certified QM , which is a proof of the high quality of the university’s online teaching.
All of the degree programs offered by SIU are carefully designed and supervised to meet rigorous standards and adhere to international academic norms. This guarantees that our degrees and the ECTS points earned by our graduates are recognized internationally. SIU is a national university recognized by the United Republic of the Comoros, and therefore coordination has been made with the ministries of higher education in all countries to recognize it. However, it is important to note that certain countries and professions may not recognize qualifications obtained through online learning in their government agencies. Therefore, it is highly advisable to confirm the local recognition status prior to enrolling.

This International Francophone Academic Center aims to foster and cultivate multidisciplinary thinking with a triple focus on: Globalization, Territorial Development, and Entrepreneurship.

The online education system at SIU provides students with the flexibility to enroll in courses and obtain degrees through the internet anytime and anywhere, our courses consist of video lectures, interactive learning material, live sessions as well as quizzes and exams. Students have access to these learning materials 24/7 on mobile, tablet, or PC via our online learning platform “SIU Student’s Hub”. This convenient setup allows students to tailor their learning experience to fit their individual schedules.
Yes, students can talk and communicate with their professor and other students via our cloud campus “SIU Student’s Hub”..
Yes, there is a recorded lecture for each lesson on a weekly basis, which students can access through our LMS, adding to that there will be a weekly “Highly Engaging Live Session” – a live session with the instructors, where they’ll cover the topics discussed in the recorded lecture that the students would have previously watched, and during this live session the instructors will answer any questions a student might have.

- Furthermore, by successfully registering your account, you will be able to enjoy using SIU’s website, get news, live events, follow and share our valuable blogs and Podcast.
Please, note that registering your account on Smart Island University’s website does not automatically qualify you for Admission acceptance, nor using SIU Students’ Hub.
- After registration is complete please, visit admission page by clicking here, fill in the form carefully and don’t forget to choose the desired program/course from the list and upload the required documents.
- After submitting the admission form, one of our staff will email you for confirmation and for farther steps or will ask you for more details and requirements to complete the admission process.
- After finishing the admission process successfully, you will receive an admission and greetings email letters with all the details and guidance including payment links, course login page details and more.

For Bachelor’s degrees admission,
Students must submit the following:

The office of enrollment management has the right to request any supporting documents.
For Master’s degrees admission
Students must submit the following:
1. Personal high school certificate or its equivalent.
2. Complete application
3. Personal undergraduate degree Transcripts
4. Personal statement
5. Resume
6. Two letters of recommendation
7. Proof of at least one year’s professional work experience completed before starting the study program.
Work experience must have been gained after completion of your undergraduate studies.

Application requirements:
The specific requirements for a bridging program can vary depending on the program choice. However, here are some common requirements that you might encounter:
- Educational Background: Bridging programs require candidates to have completed a specific level of education in a related field. This is often a foundational requirement to ensure that students have the necessary background knowledge.
- Work Experience: bridging programs, may require a certain amount of relevant work experience in the field.
- Prerequisite Courses: Depending on the program, applicants might need to complete specific prerequisite courses or demonstrate competence in certain subject areas.
- Letters of Recommendation: Applicants must provide two letters of recommendation from employers, professionals and professors who can attest to their qualifications and potential for success in the program.
- Personal Statement: Applicants must submit a written statement explaining why they are interested in the bridging program and how it aligns with their goals and background may be required.
It’s important to note that the specific requirements can vary from one bridging program to another.
Regular admissions applications for the fall semester begin in August, while applications for the spring semester start to be reviewed in January, and in May for summer term admission.
Submitting a complete application within these specified timeframes will be processed within 14 business days. Be sure to monitor your email consistently as we may request additional documents to facilitate the application processing.
Successful applicants will receive their official Admission Letter via email.
It’s important to understand that obtaining an SIU ID number or SIU email account does not indicate acceptance to SIU.
For bachelor’s degrees Admission
Students must submit the following:

For Master’s degrees Admission

- Proof of at least one year’s professional work experience completed before starting the study program. Work experience must have been gained after completion of your undergraduate studies
This should be done in August for fall semester admission, in early January for spring semester admission, and in May for summer term admission.
As a general policy, we endorse the admission of transfer applicants. To be eligible for admission consideration, applicants must fulfill the following criteria:
- They must be in good academic standing at their current institution, meaning they are not on probation or facing dismissal.
- They should be transferring from a recognized and accredited higher education institution that offers academic programs and have successfully completed one or more semesters at that institution.
- They must have met SIU’s admission requirements before enrolling in their current institution.
- Applicants are required to provide official transcripts of both their high school and college/university records, as well as syllabi and course descriptions for the courses they wish to transfer.
Additionally, the minimum acceptable course grade(s) for transfer consideration, either a C or a B, depends on the type of institution the applicant is transferring from. The decision to grant credits is made solely by the relevant academic division at SIU.
After receiving all the necessary documents, the evaluation process for admission to the graduate program will typically take between 10 working days to two weeks. You will receive a notification email from the Admission Office, clearly indicating the status of your application.
Regularly the fall semester begins in September, while the spring semester starts in January, and the summer semester begins in June.
Yes, typically, students are assigned a specific advisor during their program to provide guidance and support throughout their academic journey.
FEES AND PAYMENTS

- At SIU, we provide various payment choices to accommodate your needs.

- Once you’ve Followed the instructions to Register, filling the admission form and got your admission Letter, you will be given a link with your admission program payment page.
- You should be able to start payment using one of the next methods: PayPal, Credit Card, Debit Card, Stripe, Wire Transfer, Western Union transfer, ApplePay and InstaPay “for Residence of EGYP”. After Payment is confirmed, you will receive by email:
- Your Payment Confirmation email
- Your SIU Student’s Hub account details.
There are no application fees. Our tuition fees cover everything you need to study at SIU, including the access to our online SIU Students’ Hub
Yes, you can change your payment method after being admitted to our programs and you have enrolled to your program. After doing so, simply contact our
financial office by clicking here.
